I don’t like ice cream, I love ice cream. I eat ice cream all summer long. Sometimes in the winter I will curl up in my robe in front of the television to watch my favorite shows and eat my homemade ice cream. It is almost like an addiction, and you might think that I would gain a lot of weight eating all of that ice cream. But, the truth is I make my own ice cream, using my own ice cream maker, so I can control the ingredients. I have several non-fat recipes that are delicious and healthy.
In addition to the non-fat dairy products that I use, I like to add fruit to the mix, which adds a healthy and tasty element to the ice cream. I have found that by using the non-fat products, artificial sweeteners that I can create any flavor of ice cream I want and still be able to eat a healthy dessert, that tastes wonderful. You can use nonfat sweetened condensed milk and low fat milk in place of the heavy cream and whole milk, and substitute gelatin for the eggs. If you want to eliminate the sugar, you buy unsweetened condensed milk, and then use your favorite artificial sweetener. For a richer taste of vanilla ice cream you can use vanilla bean and that really adds quality to your ice cream, especially if you not accustomed to using non fat dairy products.
When entertaining guests, I have served various flavors of ice cream that I made in my Ice Cream Maker using my “healthy recipes” and the guests always have great compliments and are always surprised, when they find that it is made from a home made recipe.
My husband and I are currently planning a larger than usual dinner party, so we plan to use our Ice Cream Maker to freeze a few batches of ice cream ahead time. Even though our ice cream maker will make consecutive batches, we prefer to freeze most of it ahead of time. We will make a variety of flavors, and keep it in the freezer ready to eat. That will leave the ice cream maker free to make frozen cocktails.
I am really looking forward to this dinner party, and look forward to seeing friends that I have not seen for a while. After dinner we will have our dessert on the patio by the pool, where we will have tables and a bar set up to serve the frozen cocktails that will also be made in our Ice Cream Maker.
