When we start talking about making homemade ice cream, then you know that summer must be just around the corner. Yesterday, I took the ice cream maker from the back of the pantry, where it has been sitting all winter, because I saw ripe strawberries in my garden. I have the ice cream maker all cleaned up and ready to use, and this morning I am going out to pick the strawberries. I have been looking forward to this for a while. There is nothing that I like better than my homemade ice cream, made with my own homegrown strawberries. That is my expert opinion anyway, and my family would agree.
We could make homemade ice cream all winter, but somehow, once the weather turns cool, we turn to the warmer foods and drinks.
I purchased this particular ice cream maker late in the summer, last year, so I have only used it a few times. It is the latest thing in ice cream makers, because it will allow me to make almost any frozen dessert, including frozen drinks, and even frozen cocktails. Now that it is out on the kitchen counter, it will probably stay there for the rest of the summer. The stainless steel of the ice cream maker matches the rest of my stainless steel appliances, so it blends in with the overall look of the kitchen. And it is so handy, with all of the latest features; it will allow me to whip up frozen desserts or drinks at the touch of the button. And not only that, it will make consecutive batches of ice cream. Which is great when the whole family gets together.
My family likes all flavors of ice cream, if it is from our home ice cream maker. Sometimes I make chocolate ice cream, and actually, I try to keep chocolate ice cream made and I keep it in the freezer, so that any time we want we can have a bowl of chocolate ice cream. The kids also like ice cream cones, so I keep a good supply of cones, so they can just dip out the ice cream and make their own.
Life around our house is really fun all year long, but we especially enjoy it in the summer, with a large family in the area, there is something always going on. There is always a birthday to celebrate, and the family usually congregates at our house because we have a large deck and then there is the pool too, of course. Not to the mention, our great ice cream maker.
There is going to be wedding also, in a few months, so we are thinking about having part of the celebration here, and have started making notes and plans. We have room to set up several tables on our arbor-covered patio, and with the landscaping, it would make a great area to have a special party, and we could serve, in addition to other things, frozen cocktails and frozen desserts, from our Ice Cream maker.
