With the technology that is available today, you can actually make delicious foods  in the comfort of your own home. Using an ice cream maker, you can now make ice cream at home and it’s really easy.

The first thing you need to know about ice cream makers is that they’re not all the same. There are models that are hand-churned, meaning you have to be the one to turn the paddle to churn out the ice cream. There are also some models that are automatic and all you have to do is pour in all the ingredients.

When buying an ice cream maker, choose one that is easy to use, one that both adults and kids can operate. This is so you can make ice cream making a whole family affair.

To make your own ice cream, you will need some basic ingredients. Gather them before attempting to make ice cream so you don’t have to stop in the middle of churning because you are missing one or a couple of ingredients.

The basic ingredients you will need are: sugar, eggs, salt, milk, cream, and vanilla extract. It will also help you make ice cream better if you put the freezer bowl of your ice cream maker in the freezer for a few hours. Chilling it completely will help in achieving a good consistency.

Using a custard base for your ice cream means you have to mix all the ingredients before pouring it in the ice cream maker . If you are using a custard base, make sure that you cook the egg yolks well. There are many ice cream recipes to be found on line.

After pouring in the custard, it is time for some ice cream fun! The ice cream will usually take about 15 to 20 minutes to thicken up. If you are using a manual ice cream maker, remember the faster you churn the better. This is so there’s more air that is whipped into the ice cream so it won’t harden too much.

If you are going to put in some of your own flavors, make sure to put it in around the 13th minute mark just as it is beginning to reach your desired consistency. If you’re adding other ingredients like nuts, chocolate chips, fruits, candies, or wafers, make sure that you crush them well and the bits won’t be too large.

After churning, the ice cream will be soft so you have to transfer it into a freezer-safe container and let it harden a bit so it will come out like real ice cream. But be careful not to keep it in the refrigerator too long, as it will harden too much. If you’re going to serve it at a later time, bring it out of the freezer about 15 minutes before serving time so you can easily scoop it out.

Making your own ice cream is not just fun for kids but for adults, too. You can even make an Ice Cream Making day with your family where you can put your ice cream maker to good use. Ask each member to create his or her own recipe and enjoy the day making magic!
